George Segal is a New York sculptor and created some of the most memorable and haunting sculptures of the 20th century. He is known for making his sculptures out of orthopedic bandages dipped in plaster. His first sculpture using these bandages was in 1961. Its called "Man at Table" and is a life sized figure based on his body. He wrapped his body in bandages and made casts and then reassembled them to make the figure.
