George Segal Bus Passengers

George Segal sculpted the Bus Passengers in 1997 using full body casts of living models. The unpainted figures are left so plain to portray anonymous figures. They are just ordinary humans riding the bus. This made Segal's sculptures more realistic and relatable due to their rawness and the emotion they conveyed. I chose this work by Segal because I enjoyed that he kept the casts white instead of using color like he occasionally does. I also thought it was interesting that he took only a portion of the bus and constructed a scene from only one portion of the bench.
