Bernini

Bernini is an Italian sculptor and architect. He is known for his passion and extreme religious piety. He introduced dynamic and exuberant style with a focus on emotion into the baroque period. Bernini thought beauty should be observed in people and nature instead of paintings and sculptures. For his sculptures he used marble and used his expert technique to make a dramatic depiction of flesh in his work. Bernini thought by capturing a person in mid conversation or just uttering a word capture the true authentic personality of the subject. One of his works the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, or the fountain of four rivers shows his dramatic style in the figures of Gods and animals such as a horse, sea monster, and a serpent.
