Camille Claudel

Camille Claude was a French sculptor during the early 1900s. She started working in the famous sculptor, Auguste Rodin's workshop in 1884. She was his model for many of his works. "The Mature Age" was the piece that drew Rodin and Claudel apart. When Rodin saw it, he was very angry and stopped all of his work with her. Camille's brother interpreted this work as an allegory of her break with Rodin, after he refused to marry her. This is one of Claudel's major pieces which took 6 years to complete (1894-1900). There is one made in plaster and another made in bronze at 2 museums in Paris.
