Camille Claude-Torse de Clotho

This sculpture is interesting because it looks like a decomposing body. The sculpture is described as hollow eyes, sunken cheeks, prominent ribs, and drooping empty sacks of skin for breasts. There’s not much information about this sculpture and there were questions of authenticity that it was made by Camille Claudel. It was confirmed by her nephew that this is one of her sculptures. The information I was able to find on this sculpture was that it was made around 1893. There seems to be two of these sculptures. I found out that one sculpture was made of Bronze with light brown or black patina. The bronze edition of Torse de Clotho has yet to be found. The other sculpture is made of plaster, gypsum, and stone and is 44.5 in height. It’s white and stearin gray. It’s said to be kept at the Rodin Museum which was a gift from Paul Claudel who was Camille’s brother. The sculpture is said to be the Parque which spreads the thread of life.
