Bernini

This sculpture was created in 1622 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. I chose this sculpture because the human figures have body parts and facial expressions extremely similar to a real human being. The detail that Bernini obtained with chiseling marble is absolutely stunning. For example, on the first picture you can see the indentation of the mans hand on the woman's leg. This detail gives the viewer a thought of how strong the man was pulling the woman toward him. One portion of this sculpture I did not even realize was a part of it in class was the 3 headed dog. Bernini captured each dog with great detail. One dog looks angry, other one looks confused, and the last one looks scared. This dogs facial expressions might be symbolizing what the woman was feeling in this moment.
