Camille Claudel

The wave is made of onyx marble and bronze. It has three idetnical figures bent at the knees at the sight of a wave about to break over their heads.  Some say it is an image of destiny which is a theme on several other works by artists during this time period. Claudel liked to ply with color and the natural polychromy of materials.  Here there is a mix of bronze and green stone.  This work is influenced by Japanses art and the famous wood block print.
