David Smith

"The Man of Steel" known as David Smith was an American abstract expressionist sculptor and painter. He was best known for creating large steel and abstract geometric sculptures. He was the first artist to work with metal and often talked of the formative experiences he had in his youth while working in a car body workshop. He brought qualities of industrial manufacturing into the language of art and proved to be an important influence on Minimalism
