Vik Muniz is a Brazilian artist that is well known amongst
the art world for his photographic work. Vik is unique in that he uses odd
materials such as food, garbage, and toys to create his works of art. This piece is called Double Mona Lisa, created
in 1999, which is actually made of jelly and peanut butter. This piece jumped out
to me due to how Vik used the textures (of each substance) to capture a different
and unique view of the painting. The symmetry of the images are also stunning,
and seem like a real challenge due to the substances used.
