David Smith was known as the man of steel. Smith learned his craft on a Studebaker auto assembly line where he picked up welding and riveting skills. What I really like about Smith is, he was the first to use welding in his sculptures with geometric shapes. I really like this sculpture because it does look pretty simple yet it probably took a while to build it. I like how the steel also has a marbled look to it.
