Vik Muniz is a Brazilian artist and photographer. He is best well know for his complex photographic work sourcing a wide variety of materials found like chocolate, sugar, peanut butter and jelly , and garbage. Muniz recreates iconic art historical works and scenes from popular culture with the garbage he's found. In 2010 the artist wanted to give back to his home in Brazil. He decided to recreate the people who scour Rio's sizable trash dump for recyclable materials. The documentary Waste Land, in which he starred in, gave him the name UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for his social activism.
